“If I could sum up why I’m committed to the HR Girlfriends community it would come down to because we are ‘….in this together.'”

Affirmation: Discomfort Helps Me To Grow

Uncomfortable experiences help me to grow. When I respond constructively to difficult situations, I become stronger and wiser.

I build my confidence. Overcoming a challenge shows me that I am more powerful than I realize. I break free from the false limitations that I usually place upon myself. I discover my true potential.

I strengthen my relationships. I reach out for assistance and feel grateful for the support that I receive. I share my vulnerabilities and allow others to get to know me. My compassion deepens as I realize the struggles that others go through. I feel more connected.

I increase my flexibility. I think creatively to invent new solutions when I need something more than my usual practices. I adapt to changing conditions and find ways to work more effectively and efficiently.

I apply my strengths. I identify the tasks that I do well and find energizing. I develop my own authentic style instead of comparing myself to others.

I clarify my values. Challenges give me an opportunity to evaluate my life and goals. I focus my efforts on the areas that are meaningful to me.

I take care of my mental and physical health. I treat myself gently when I am going through tough times. I eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and get sufficient sleep. I manage stress and cultivate a positive attitude.

Today, I welcome challenges. I focus on the upside of adversity and look for ways to enhance my abilities and increase my happiness.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Why are difficult achievements the most satisfying?
2. What is one demanding situation that enriched my life?
3. What would my life be like without any challenges?
