“If I could sum up why I’m committed to the HR Girlfriends community it would come down to because we are ‘….in this together.'”

~Sana’ Rasul, Chief Girlfriend

Affirmation: I am appreciated at work.

Many days, I find myself feeling over-worked and frustrated. But I avoid allowing these issues to negatively affect me. I am sure that others notice my contributions.

Regardless of how tough work can be, I believe my co-workers and supervisor appreciate me. Others compliment me on my work projects. I am fulfilled by how my associates treat me. I see that they appreciate my work.

Work helps me in other ways, too. I learn to do something new. I get to spend time with some great co-workers. And as I draw attention to the gratitude I feel for my job, my contributions at my job increase. Consequently, others value me and the work I do.

I strive to complete all duties required of me to the best of my ability. I know that my co-workers see my efforts and appreciate them, whether I am completing my work by the assigned deadlines, stepping up to take a job no one else wants to do, or jumping in to help others complete their tasks.

I notice the look of thanks in my supervisor’s eyes when I agree to take on a project no one else wants. I am receptive when my colleagues tell me how much I helped them to finish a job on time. When I excel at work, others see and appreciate my contributions.

Today, I feel grateful that I am appreciated at work. Knowing that my efforts are appreciated motivates me to always try my best.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I believe I am valued at work?
2. What do I do when people show appreciation toward me?
3. How can I open my eyes to the positive reception I get from others?
