“If I could sum up why I’m committed to the HR Girlfriends community it would come down to because we are ‘….in this together.'”

~Sana’ Rasul, Chief Girlfriend

Affirmation: Unexpected turns of events encourage me to think on my feet.

I am proud of my ability to make quick decisions. Experiencing unexpected challenges helps me to practice quick thinking. That gift makes me a fearless leader. It allows me to gain the respect of my team.

Business is often unpredictable but that environment keeps me prepared. I am a more effective thinker with each unforeseen situation I encounter.

Ideas flow easily when I am under pressure. Instead of giving in when my back is against the wall, I exercise creativity and discover a solution.

I set meaningful personal goals and place a lot of energy on going after them. But at times they seem unattainable. In those situations I avoid feeling defeated.

My next step in difficult situations is to plan another route for getting to the goal. It is rarely an option for me to give up. My drive pushes me to draw up another game plan. I keep thriving because I challenge road blocks.

I feel like those obstacles help me to discover my true potential. I learn new things about myself.

Today, I know that things can change in a heartbeat. I commit to quickly overcoming the shock from unexpected situations. My approach to unpredictable occurrences is to recognize, recover, and reinvent.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What exercises can I do in my spare time so I am able to respond quickly to change?
2. How do I feel about myself when a shocking outcome causes me to freeze?
3. What can I do to anticipate a twist of events and prepare for it?
