“If I could sum up why I’m committed to the HR Girlfriends community it would come down to because we are ‘….in this together.'”

~Sana’ Rasul, Chief Girlfriend

Affirmation: Time alone encourages me to listen to my inner voice.

Depending upon your household, the Covid-19 shelter-in-place mandates may have you confined with family or in isolation.  Either way, this is a great time to ground yourself through introspection.

There is beauty in solitude. It allows me to become closer to who I am in a soulful way. I can hear the positive messages from my inner voice. This is the voice that keeps me grounded and honest, so its messages are important to me.

Quiet time allows me to shift from any feelings of doubt and anxiety to a feeling of confidence. It gives me a window in which to contemplate things.

Whenever I feel frustrated, I take a step back and breathe. Deep breathing relaxes me. When I am relaxed, I am reminded that there are always answers when I take the time to look for them. And I listen for my inner voice.

My inner voice also reminds me to be patient when expecting results. Although I have a timeframe in mind for finding solutions, I accept that things happen at the right time instead of my time.

In the quietness, I get to think about my many blessings. Even when I am searching for answers, I think about all the times they present themselves. I know that there is a way to fix anything and my life is a testament to that.

I look in the mirror each day and encourage myself to hold on to faith. I tell myself to smile through the challenges because they are only temporary.

Today, I know that my alone time is reassurance time. It is my opportunity to uplift myself and steer away from negative thoughts. It is a blessing to be able to be my own voice of encouragement and positive thinking.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What words of encouragement do I say to myself?
2. When do I rely on my inner voice?
3. How do I know when it is time to choose an alternate path?
