I enjoy being a member of a team. We work toward common goals. I see the strength in our numbers. Together, we overcome any obstacle that emerges. I always support the person leading the group. Sometimes, I am that person.
Without seeking it, I sometimes find myself in the leadership role.
Because I am dependable and responsible, my peers look to me for guidance. The position comes naturally when others are seeking my advice. I accept the responsibility, and the challenges the role brings.
I lead by example.
For me, being in charge is more than telling others what to do. It means identifying the goal, and the path to it. I know the strengths and weaknesses of my team members, and delegate tasks accordingly. Afterward, I roll up my sleeves and put myself to work alongside them.
When we reach our goal, I share success.
I know that the task is completed because of the team’s effort. It is the collection of individual efforts, in lieu of a single effort, that results in success. I am proud to be recognized as both a leader and contributing member.
Today, I contribute fully to every task. I may be the leader, or I may just be a contributing member. Regardless of my role, I always commit to the task until our goal is achieved.
