“If I could sum up why I’m committed to the HR Girlfriends community it would come down to because we are ‘….in this together.'”

~Sana’ Rasul, Chief Girlfriend

Affirmation: I take one step at a time.

A slow and steady approach keeps me happy and fulfilled.

I break big projects down into smaller tasks. I find a starting point. I identify one thing I can do now. I build momentum that carries me forward.

I set short-term goals and celebrate my progress. I give myself something to strive for each day. I stay motivated even when my final destination is far away. I notice how my efforts pay off. I give myself credit for my strengths and accomplishments. My confidence grows.

I make small changes that add up to a big difference in the quality of my life.

  • I reduce stress by striking one low priority task off my to-do list or spending a few moments each afternoon doing breathing exercises.
  • I lose weight by skipping dessert or drinking water instead of sweetened beverages. I prepare lunch at home instead of ordering takeout. I put skim milk in my coffee rather than cream.
  • I develop closer relationships by scheduling standing dates for coffee with friends or initiating deep conversations with my partner.
  • I increase my job satisfaction by joining a committee at work or decorating my cubicle. I practice sharing constructive feedback or listening attentively.
  • I build financial security by saving some money out of each paycheck or cutting back on spending for entertainment and clothing.

Today, I succeed by being patient and persevering. I turn my life around with one small victory at a time.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What happens when I try to push myself too hard?
2. How can I remind myself to slow down?
3. What is one challenge I want to focus on today?
