“If I could sum up why I’m committed to the HR Girlfriends community it would come down to because we are ‘….in this together.'”

~Sana’ Rasul, Chief Girlfriend

Affirmation: I honor my needs

I take care of myself. I pay attention to my mental, physical, and spiritual needs.

I accept myself as I am. I let go of the past and focus on today. I trust my instincts and make my own decisions. I love myself unconditionally.

I eat healthy. I fuel my body and mind with nutritious foods. I avoid empty calories and excess sugar.

I exercise regularly. I design balanced workouts that I enjoy so it will be easier to remain consistent. I look forward to going to the gym before work or taking barre classes at lunch.

I make time to relax and play. I keep my bedroom dark and quiet to encourage restful sleep. I take frequent breaks throughout the day while I am working. When I return home, I join my children for a game of catch or go ice skating at a local rink.

I surround myself with supportive family and friends. We share validation and practical assistance. I feel engaged and secure.

I think positive. I practice gratitude and forgiveness. I adopt a growth mindset. I challenge myself to reach my own potential rather than comparing myself to others.

I do meaningful work. I explore careers that align with my strengths and values. I structure my tasks so that they leverage my personal strengths. I find satisfaction in knowing that my efforts make a positive contribution.

Today, I invest in myself. When I make my own needs a top priority, I have more resources for pursuing my goals and leading a richer life.

Self-Reflection Questions:
1. How do I define self-care?
2. Why is it important to be proactive about self-care?
3. What is one kind thing that I can do for myself today?
